Virgin Media – discrimination?
Our phone gives 6 rings before it goes to voicemail. I am with Virgin Media. It is really hard to get to the phone within 6 rings – and thats with my PA or husband answering it. If you have an impairment it’s really difficult to impossible unless you are right next to it. This can’t be altered unless you pay a monthly fee (and then voicemail is charged for). Virgin won’t let you leave your own message to say why you might not be able to answer – you have to pay for that too.
I think the basic service for a phone takes no account for people who can not pick up within 6 rings (for whatever reason). You end up dialling to see who’s called, returning the call and the whole thing costs you more just because you can’t pick up in time. This is very unfair. Another hidden cost of ‘disability’?
